Woodpulp
The Central National-Gottesman organization has a long history of initiative in domestic and international marketing of woodpulp. In the early 1900s, we introduced essential Scandinavian grades of woodpulp to U.S. manufacturers of paper and paperboard. We also pioneered the importation of dissolving pulp used in the production of rayon to original British and U.S. manufacturers. Later, with the expansion of woodpulp production in North America, our activities with local suppliers increased substantially.
We continue to maintain long-established associations with many North American producers for the sale of their woodpulp in the U.S. and world markets. As producers outside Scandinavia and North America have begun to play a more important role in the manufacture of woodpulp, we have also developed close ties with suppliers in other fiber-producing regions, including Argentina, Brazil, South Africa and Spain, allowing us to supply almost all grades of woodpulp – from anywhere in the world – on a regular, dependable basis.
Newsprint, paper and paperboard
In international markets, Central National-Gottesman and its affiliates are a leading supplier of newsprint and publication papers to the publishing industry. Many producers rely on us for marketing programs under long-term arrangements, including companies in Canada, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Spain and the U.S. We are also a major supplier of telephone directory paper, lightweight coated paper and supercalendered mechanical printing paper.
A substantial position is maintained in the international marketing of kraft linerboard, corrugating medium, coated bleached board, duplex board, printing and writing paper, and liquid packaging board. We have developed close relationships over the years with leading paper and paperboard producers located in many countries, including Brazil, Canada, South Korea, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the U.S.
